Vambraces? - Amalric - 03-29-2007 Hello, I was wondering, did the Germanic tribes use some sort of vambrace or arm guards? I have not read anything that either said they did or didn't. My first armor project was a pair of leather vambraces and I was wondering if it was accurate to use them with my early German kit. Thanks! Finkas - 04-17-2007 Based on grave finds it is believed that Scytians used vambraces, presumedly of leather and (entirely) faced with splints of metal. See the upper arm defenses on the museum-made reconstruction below. The vambraces would have been of similar construction, as would be greaves for the lower leg.
