Coolus "C" Finds in Britain? - Gaius_Calvus - 03-08-2007

Brothers,

Any records or photos of Coolus "C" finds in the UK? If not, what are the earliest type helmet finds that can be dated to the invasion period of 43 A.D.?

Thanks for the assist.

Edge

Hi Edge,

No Coolus C types, but we have the following;

Coolus E
London x 2 - Walbrook and Berkhampstead

http://www.romanarmy.com/cms/component/ ... Itemid,96/
St Albans x1

Coolus F - Bosham Harbour x1 (With the oyster shell attached!)
http://www.romanarmy.com/cms/component/ ... Itemid,96/

I think this would be an easy one to reconstruct. It has a nice flat neck guard, and is quite simple in it's construction.

Cheek pieces of type E and G (Kew and Hod-hill respectively) although the G would be post 70AD.
