The BBCs Cinematic Documentaries - AthenaK - 02-06-2007 Hi! I just watched the first of this series of six. What is everyones thoughts regarding this series? I don't know much about Rome, but I don't think that cavalry in the time of 48 BC had stirrups yet. I am sure that the directors were aware of this, but I bet that the actors could not ride without stirrups! P Athena Re: The BBCs Cinematic Documentaries - Jeroen Pelgrom - 02-06-2007 haven't seen it. Which time? You are correct about the stirrups. Romans used a Celtic saddle instead which works just the same. Re: The BBCs Cinematic Documentaries - Robert Vermaat - 02-06-2007 You probably mean that BBC series also aired on Discovery, Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire? Weve discussed it at length here: http://www.romanarmy.com/rat/viewtopic. ... 89&start=0 |
