I would love to see Albert's interpetation of the thunderbolt casting Heros on the shield.

Kind regards

Those are beautiful sketches, Albert! Giannis' coloured versions are very nice too. Smile

Start here:
http://www.theoi.com/Ouranios/Eros.html

Substitute wreith with thunderbolt like:
http://www.theoi.com/Gallery/K1.1.html

It was supposed to be golde Eros on ivory shield according to Plutarch
Good luck!

Kind regards

P.S. Do you have samples of your work online?

Re: Share Your Greek Artwork - Giannis K. Hoplite - 02-24-2008

Haha,Stefane,of all Erotes in Greek art,I pointed Albert to that same Eros from the same vase! Is that a coincidence? Maybe not,it's one of the best Erotes and the stance would fit to the purpose Albert would need it.
And yet another coincidence,I also pointed him to vases of ZXeus from the exact same site that you posted!!!

Good work. I see you went with a leather linothorax. Or broun leather linothorax. I like the job on the shield.

thanks Giannis.glad you like it.

Re: Share Your Greek Artwork - hoplite14gr - 03-23-2008

Well done.
Initially the shield device was for the Megarean aristocrats but at a later time perhaps it was carried only by the Megarean General.

This typo of fighter might have been in Platea or the less well know repulse of a Persian raid at 480 B.C. at the same time as Salamis.

Kind regards

Re: Share Your Greek Artwork - Kallimachos - 03-24-2008

Really good work Dimitrios, thanks for sharing

Re: Share Your Greek Artwork - Zenodoros - 03-24-2008

Whoa, that's fantastic Demetrios. Nice work, as usual!

Looking at the Romeo site, it's a little frustrating to see that most people have the idea that only the Lokrians had double or triple crested helmets. Why is this misinformation so widely regarded as fact? Is it because of Christos Gianopoulos' artwork?

Re: Share Your Greek Artwork - dimgall - 03-24-2008

thanks Stefanos,Kalimachos for the nice words and information!!!
Zenodoros thanks for the comments.i ve seen in pottery many polemarchoi had 2 or three crests .
