Here's a Chalcidean with extreme decoration and griffins. But I thought it was found in Thrace...I'm not sure.

The helmet from Thrace could cou´ld have Greek origins actually this is the griffin of Pantikapeo with the serpet mane. Alkiviades could have worn something like that though.

Kind regards

Ok,with Alebert's permition I can post his sketch of Socrates coloured. It is very easy and it requires no skill from me,all the shades etc are done by Albert's hand, but the colour does add to the realistic impression

Here one more richly decorated chalcidean(sorry for the bad quality) and yet one more elaborate cheek piece(There are plenty more). Hope Stephanos will post the one attributed to Alcibiades.
Gioi, the two links you posted on top of the page don't work for me.

Giannis.

PS.Note that in many surviving chalkidean helmets, the two cheek pieces have a different scene sculpted. The one above probably has Heracles

Here is a conceptual drawing of Alkibiades' helmet. It is a composite sketch from different ancient Greek art designs.

Giannis!

The coloured one of Alexander is superb! I also like the way you did the highlights on Kineas' helmet.

Re: Share Your Greek Artwork - Giannis K. Hoplite - 02-23-2008

Right! This might have been the one I had seen, too,in that encyclopedia.Unfortunately I don't have it near me,it had a better photo of the cheek piece. Well,Albert could paint both this one and the dophin/Eros one as the desighns on each cheek piece was usually different. But I suppose if you do the profile you'll have to choose between the two. Probably better to choose the one Stefanos posted, though the other one has a better shape and is preserved better.
Thanks Stefanos
