i'd like to maybe construct a pair. what exatly do they look like? i've seen pics etc in books, but no patterns etc. any help?

There are so many kinds of Late Roman shoes. Cavalry shoes? Boots? With or without hobnails?

Chuck, maybe you want to search the forum for terms like calceus, calcei, vindolanda, saalburg shoes, welzheim, boots etc. to get a first impression?

I doubt I have anything on shoes that you don't have already!
Maybe Sarah Juniper's (not perfect but quite alright) reconstruction of one of the Deurne shoes?
