Roman women and her coins - GALLA PLACIDIA - 11-14-2006

It is a page very interesting because, they have done the recreation of the women represented in the coins, ( in some coins...)

Ah, very nice collection! We spoke about that earlier - good that you found this.
The reconstructions look a bit 'mask/statue-like', don't they?

Yes!!!!
.But, today , it is difficult to find feminine reproductions (drawings, etc ..), these drawings humanizes the big women of Rome a bit more...

Ave Carme,

that is a very interesting site and I like specially the drawings with its backgrounds. Thank You for posting this here.

Greets - Uwe

PS: although - I found it somewhat ungalant to label it under "Beast" coins

Re: Roman women and her coins - IMP GALLIENVS AVG - 11-22-2006

That's Zach Beasley's site, and I think that is why he named it "BeastCoins." He is a coin dealer and also does tons of research and has a GREAT site , I recommend you search it further.

He also once owned (I think) and is still heavily researching the famous "Pannonian Hat" coin of Constantine.

I stumbled across these stories, which may be old news to you folks but as we are speaking of Roman women, modern science has seems to have few surprises for us:

Also an interesting theory on the diet of gladiators:
