I thought of trajans column but the one good site I found with a huge database of pictures, I cant upload any of the images.
Im looking for good very detailed pictures of everything on trajans column, any other sites?

Oh boy.
Ok, a parable (and a demonstration of why I have questionable parenting skills).
I have a very talented daughter who is quite the artist. She was drawing figures as early as two. She is now 8. Several months back she came to me and asked, "Daddy, could I be the best artist in the whole world?" Now I realize that I should have said "Of course dear, you can be whatever you choose to be!" but I didn't instead I said "No." I then went on to explain that it wasn't for lack of faith in her abilities, but that since we live in the postmodernist era there is no agreed definition of what "best" means. I told her that had she been born in the 16th C. when there was a reasonable consensus on what "best" meant in art, then maybe, but unfortunately, those days are long past.
(Before you judge me too hard, remember, I'm an art historian. If I had any real skills I would be a plumber of something useful.)
Of course she was absolutely dejected. If she grows up to be one of those annoying gothic teenagers who only wear black and write depressing high school poems titled "I am alone" at least I know who to blame.
The point of this story is that "best" is a subjective term Francis.
If you mean "most accurate" or "demonstrates the highest artistic skill" or has "the most historical significance"? Each of those generate a different answer.
For example, most think that things like the Rhineland stelae and Adamklissi reliefs are the most authentic in depicting military dress. However they can't touch the Roman stuff like the Column of Trajan for artistic quality, but the CoT may not be that accurate in military terms. Elsewhere the Arch of Titus is an amazing historical relief because it shows the aftermath of the Jewish wars.
So there are many many different possible answers. Now if you grow up into a goth, I wash my hands of all responsibility. :wink:

The McMaster Trajan project has one of the best collections of images from the Column [url:103kq618]http://www.stoa.org/trajan/[/url], though it is quite selective in what it provides details of and for.

this site http://www.stoa.org/trajan/ seemed really good, it has a database of 500 pictures, I really want to see them, but I cant look at one of them!
maybe you can upload the images here on this board, or point me to another website that has ALOT of high res. large detailed pictures of every inch of this column

The McMaster Trajan's Column images are copyrighted - details are under the Credits page on the website, so I'm not sticking them up anywhere else I'm afraid. It is the most extensive collection of photos from T's Column that I've so far found on-line.
Why you can't view the photos I don't know; I've been accessing them fine from my computer at home. The other alternative of course is to get one of the books with a full set of images:
Settis, La Colonna Traiana, fantastic set of photos but you'll need an academic library to get it.
Frere & Lepper, Trajan's Column, Sutton, 1988
Rossi, Trajan's Column and the Dacian Wars, Thames & Hudson 1971.
I would not recommend Rossi since he's over-schematic in his approach and the photos aren't very good (he stood at the bottom with a telephoto lens). Frere & Lepper's better, though the prints are the re-printed Cichorius prints from the early 20th century and not as good as those in Settis. But, you might be able to get either through your local library - assuming that your local library is no worse than the one in the small rural town in which I grew up which, even in the 1970s was willing to chase up on loan from other libraries some of the obscure books I was after.
There are limits to what the internet can provide you with; if you wish to take your interest in Roman history and culture further you're going to need to start using resources beyond the web.
