Re: Roman chairs - TITVS SABATINVS AQVILIVS - 10-31-2006 It does not look like a "Romioi" era throne... :? Vale, Re: Roman chairs - GALLA PLACIDIA - 11-03-2006 Quote:It does not look like a "Romioi" era throne... :? Yes I know, is another equivocate thing in Internet......, but I suppose is from IX century...., I'm not sure.... Re: Roman chairs - TITVS SABATINVS AQVILIVS - 11-05-2006 It's definitely ottoman. Is a Turkish/Indian artifact: the throne of Mahmut IV(1696 - 1754) Sultan of the Ottoman Empire from 1730 to 1754. It was a gift of the Persian King Nadir Shah, on a green and red background, are emeralds and pearls. On the right, in a case, are pots and ivory mirrors. Across, in a large number of cases, are swords, rifles, prayer beads, spoons, all beautifully decorated. There is also a box in which the mantle of the Prophet Mohammed was once kept... Nothing you could use in your impressions..., but beautiful to see anyway Vale, Re: Roman chairs - TITVS SABATINVS AQVILIVS - 11-08-2006 Another throne for you, Galla... Fresco from Catacomb of Commodilla of Maria Regina and Child and SS. Felix and Damian, 6th c. (Rome). Vale, Re: Roman chairs - GALLA PLACIDIA - 11-14-2006 Quote:It's definitely ottoman. Re: Roman chairs - GALLA PLACIDIA - 12-28-2006 I have seen that there are two types of thrones, one with a support for the back and other one that alone is the base of the chair with a cushion, that type of throne serious the most correct for the S. V?, there is distinction of thrones between emperors and empresses? Re: Roman chairs - aitor iriarte - 12-28-2006 I think that Theodosius' throne should be your choice as it is the simplest, while totally accurate, to reconstruct  On the other hand, don't forget to put it on a dais. A simple folding stool becomes a throne if it is placed on a dais and even more if it is enclosed into a curtained ciborium. 8) Aitor Re: Roman chairs - GALLA PLACIDIA - 12-28-2006 Yes! I think is the correct way!!!! thanks Aitor! Re: Roman chairs - FAVENTIANVS - 12-30-2006 I preffer the image nº 1. Great one! |
