It astonishes me that someone would find something like this, keep it *secret* until it is destroyed, and only come clean in hopes of leniency from the court. I say throw the book at him. If he had it his way, the meaning of the site would be completely lost forever! How could someone, who is passionate enough about archeology to grab a shovel and dig these things up, be so callous?

Thanks to that a****** priceless artifacts and knowledge of this warrior and his lifetime has probably been lost.. :evil: :evil:

Well, don't you kinda have to know something about this stuff in order to get money out of it? Is it enough to know that the hole you found is probably old? I get the feeling that you'd have to know the difference between Etruscan and Roman. If money drives these people to learn, it amazes me that the learning would not put this behavior in the proper perspective.
