Movie on Cyrus the Great - Jona Lendering - 04-14-2006

An Iranian friend tells me that Hollywood is preparing a movie on Cyrus the Great. He offered a link to a company that had acted as fund raiser in 2003, but [url:3eundoxp]http://www.imdb.com does not know about this movie.

The thought freightens me. You can leave it to Hollywood to destroy a good story. Of course they will stress Cyrus' monotheism (about which the last word has not yet been said) and will follow the fairy tales of Herodotus. Of course, Babylon will be one big red light district. Worst of all, there will be a classicist -not an iranologist of course- who will say that it is all so very realistic.

Here is my view on Oliver Stone and Robin Lane Fox: [url:3eundoxp]http://www.livius.org/opinion/opinion0001.html

Hollywood and Cyrus. This is very, very bad news. Is there someone who can tell me more about this movie? We must at all costs prevent that non-classicists are ignored again.
