Heidelberg University website? - Spedius - 02-09-2006

Ave

During a recent vist to the Heidelberg university website I noticed that they have an image database. Their website is here.

http://www.uni-heidelberg.de/institute/sonst/adw/edh/

Does anyone know what's in this image database?

01. Does the database contain images of Diplomas?
02. If the answer to 01. is yes, how do you access these images?
03. If the answer to 01. is yes, can you download these images?

Thank you.

Thanks for the information.

I'll have to keep checking back there from time to time to keep myself updated.

Ave

I discovered this on the internet.

Epigraphische Datenbank Heidelberg
http://www.uni-heidelberg.de/institute/sonst/adw/edh/

A long-term database project for the registration of Roman inscriptions, EDH aims at cataloging and presenting Latin inscriptions from all parts of the Roman Empire. Texts of all inscriptions are revised after a thorough bibliographic review and consultation of photographs or the stone itself (the project has access to approximately 21,000 photographs of Roman inscriptions from the Epigraphische Photothek Heidelberg). The entire database (texts, bibliography, and photographs) is being gradually made available via the Internet (33,000 texts plus images of inscriptions from CIL VI 8,2 and CIL VI 8,3, as of 29 September 2002). Since September 2002 the full content of the database (all inscriptions and all data fields) has been accessible over the internet. Updates are made twice annually. Plans include eventual online linkage to the Epigraphische Bibliographie Heidelberg (EBH), and to the photographic archives Epigraphische Fotothek Heidelberg (EBH). Directed by Géza Alföldy, the project operates under the auspices of the Heidelberger Akademie der Wissenschaften.
