The Weyler helmet reconstructed - hansvl - 09-22-2005

Hi,

I want to show you guys an example of the work of a felow countryman who is lurking about on this forum but hasn't made the step yet to full participation. I hope this will convince him to do so.

I believe he makes some beautiful reconstructions of Roman military equipment. Here's his work on reproducing the famous Weyler cavalry helmet:

First the original:

And here his work:

He admits the browband needs reworking, but he's working on that.

Any comments?

Greets,

Hans

Lovely work!
Any ideas what the bulge in the cheek piece is for?

Cheers

Hans.
Does he accept (Late Roman) customers or he only works for himself? 8)

Hi,

Here some answers to these questions:

That's just a weird reflection in the picture. Here is a picture without that annoying reflection:

Well, I hoped he would have registered by now and answered your question himself, but I think he accepts customers whenever his workschedule allows it.

Luc, Come on and join in!

Cheers,

Hans

Very nice helm. Interesting view from the back too, looks like big ears.
