My Osprey Germanic Warrior book says it's an Allamanic 6th century helmet... but osprey books can fail too. :roll: Re: "Barbarian" military equipment studies - Robert Vermaat - 06-15-2005 Since it was found in an Alamannic grave, I suppose that would account for the Osprey quote. But the technique of lamellar helmets was not Alamannic. I'll look it up, it is shown in several of my books. The guuards on both sides of the king also wear this helmet!
