I was thinking of making my own but how safe is it after you make it? I found places you can buy it but i think it takes the fun out of making it yourself. has anyone ever really tried it? if so how did it turn out? more so what does it taste like?

I just got back from the traveling Pompeii exhibit in Boston.

There was a great deal of kitchen stuff there, including a garum jug (with marketing copy on it!) and some of the remains of the sauce itself. Pardon the quality of the pictures - the room was dark, and understandably flash was not allowed.

Now seeing your post i want some garum in a period jug lol. I never knew there was artifacts here in the US.
