Spangenhelm use by the legions during the third century - Divi Filius Augustus - 01-25-2023

While we have no direct evidence of the use of the Spangenhelm by Roman troops before 298 it seems to me to be very unlikely that the Spangenhelm and the ridge helmet became so massively used so very quickly in the last several decades of the third century. This is backed by what we know about the issuing of Roman equipment throughout the imperial period starting with Augustus. Due to this, do you fine people believe that a reenactor could use a spangenhelm based off of the arch of Galerius for a legionary possibly as early as the reign of Gallienus? Thanks!
