The Fate of the Ninth - D B Campbell - 04-10-2020
Not sure if we're allowed to advertise books here, but some folks might like to know that The Fate of the Ninth is now available for download to Kindle.
Could be helpful if you're stuck in the house (and particularly if your postie is stuck in the house, too).

I have been informed that another book on the disappearance of the ninth legion is due out soon. The book will apparently dismantle the claims that the legion was destroyed in northern Britain.

Thanks! I was tempted to listen.
For other people, the Ninth is twice recorded as being nearly wiped out in Britain. The first time during the Boudican revolt and the second in the Mons Graupius campaign. If they had said "lead formidable" unit, it could be believed.

Unfortunately I could not make out all of what was being said because of the "atmospheric" music and background "battle" noises swamping my hearing aids. Had to use the subtitles. Had not heard of the "sway beat" and "nervy" tribes nor the "garlic war" or the "battle of probate" where "the boy and tulingi" arrived to force a stalemate. Did you know that "in 58bc hello fly a german (sic) tribe named the swabi under arya vistas ..."
Want a laugh? Watch without sound but with subtitles and you will see what I mean.
