Penannular Brooches - Gashford - 08-28-2003
Hello all<br>

Having made some penannular brooches at Archeon, based on other reenactors versions that they were wearing, I have decided to make some others based on actual finds.<br>
<br>
Does anyone know of any decent/half decent images on the web cataloging penannular finds at all? Even odd images will do.<br>

I have seen a few books on Roman jewelry, though I don't have any, that have images of brooches. Maybe someone can recommend one? <p></p><i></i>

There is a very comprehensive book on Roman brooches of all types in the Bar series - not sure now (cant remember - its my age) of the title,etc. I'll look it up.<br>
It was someones published phd thesis from a few years back. Should be easy enough to find in any University library though.<br>

I found it :-<br>
The reference was "Roman Brooches from North Britan" by Margaret E Snape - BAR British Series 235, 1993.<br>
<br>
Also, Lindsay Allason-Jones has written several books on Roman jewellery whcih would be well worth a look too.<br>
