Re: Archeon anyone? - Gashford - 07-21-2003

Vevicone

I'll be there for the whole period, but will only be gladiating (is that a real word?) during the last week, up until then I will be doing repairs on armour, learning some new armouring skills and building some 's' bend hooks. (that last comment won't make any sense to anyone not at Chedworth this last weekend

See you there.
Graham Ashford

Archaeon - JRSCline - 07-21-2003

Well, since I simply must do some kind of a Roman re-enactment event in 2003 before I leave for Egypt, I'll try to be there.

Jasper, maybe I can meet you in Nijmegen, crash and then go together? Link up with Sander? This'll be the chance you missed to wear that charming tunic I offered you... we'll be a matched pair, like mistress and slave.

Er, well, you can be my freedman instead if that's more palatable...

Cheers
Jenny

Re: Archaeon - Praefectusclassis - 07-22-2003

Eeehh, I agree on the first part, (i.e. meeting up etc), but I'm not sure about the second. You're free to do as you please of course
Greets
Re: Archaeon - venicone - 07-22-2003

mistress and slave - JRSCline - 07-22-2003

Oh, it's just a first effort, really. I used -- gasp! -- cotton for the fabric, and I confess I did not handsew the seams. However I am rather proud of the accoutrements. Maybe I'll take a photo, post it here, and you can tell me if I'll be laughed out of the event or not!

Cheers
Jenny

P.S. The slave outfit is very plain, nothing special.. Just a natural beige tunic. Jasper won't admit it but he has a pair of proper Roman shoes and would look perfectly fine in the outfit. Maybe he's just shy about his pale Batavian legs..??

Re: mistress and slave - Praefectusclassis - 07-22-2003

Since when do I have proper Roman shoes? That's news to me. I kinda postponed buying them for Xanten until we were sure we could go, so I didn't in the end.
Re: mistress and slave - Gashford - 07-22-2003

Jenny

I wouldn't imagine you would get laughed out of the event, last year I saw some guys walking about wearing chain over their t shirts and jeans, one even had a little chain skull cap, they liked the feel of it!

I shouldn't worry!

All the best
Graham Ashford
