The carrot is a good example; the modern orange carrot is a hybrid of the (I'm told by Merlinia) very tuberous red and white carrots, both of which are rare today.<br> It is very hard to compare dog breeds; it seems from root evidence at Pompeii and other places you can come close to what the plants and vegetables were like. <p></p><i></i> |
