Hi all, 
 After a recent visit to Herculaneum I was surprised to see this. See pic. It seems like the road "Cardo V Superiore" has been widened in its life as can blatantly be seen. Would anyone know the reason for this?

normally this was a sign of rebuilding the City area, after years or decades (also centuries), after earth quakes, or such things. It seems to be not unusually. Here is a similar Street Portion in Minturnae
