I am being a bit of a tease I cannot post my reconstruction until after next weekend
All will be revealed. All I can say is that other than the blades themselves being found, the scabbard I have had to use my best judgement

Before I show the reconstruction, looking into the scabbards they are finds but all bling mostly from graves with other gold items the only thing is they do not match in styles to ones carved on grave stelae ect and also don't have ring pommels (except for one) I had a good supply of images but cannot find them at the moment
The grave finds are very nice in the decoration of the plate used for the scabbard. So will post when I return

Now I can post, the reason is it was a surprise. Steve Rogers who is a member of our group keeps bringing presents to us books, helmets ect plus a huge supply of biscuits
So last year Steve asked me if I could make him a dagger to go with his ring pommel swords so I just robbed him off saying too busy at the moment 
I had in mind to make him one so I did The group presented it to him as a thank you, he was taken a back and said what's this for. So one happy cavalry man here are the photos,I have used carved images for to do the sheath. I found I could not keep it strapped on my leg so added a belt loop and ring which works. Result.

Thank you Robert eye has improved but still may be a week before fully healed
Crispvs my sources for the scabbard are mostly from stele from the Bosphorus area and as ever in Greek, the sites are Russian so just used the pictures as a guide.I could not find the site I was on which had a good 3 or 4 stele, as you can see show the scabbard looking the same and in a Roman context. Now cams across one that may be in a wood scabbard with metal banding,
Again the straps could be attached from the back or other ? There is also a interesting piece of statue that shows the leg of someone in fine dress,
The only thing is is seams to have a solid hilt and of a good size. Now the other type found but is beyond the borders from grave finds and very decorative is this type,
As you can see from the scabbard it does not match so that is why I choose the type I made. So I hope this gives you an Idea of my thoughts

Very nice work. The scabbards usually had four tabs, just like you fashioned. These scabbards first show up at Arzhan, then Pazyryk, next in Kushana and Filippovka, and finally in the Crimea. Mostly they were made of wood, while the elite versions were done in gold or bronze & gold. Leather ones must have existed but would have disappeared in the strata. I think you did an exemplary reconstruction, and I (too) used leather.

I was going to do a wood scabbard but I felt that leather would hold the blade much better when on horseback. Otherwise if the images showed one of the elaborate scabbards I would have liked to do one.The workmanship is stunning.
