Building a Roundhouse - Maybe - John1 - 06-06-2017
Are there any charities or contractors out there with experience in costing and building Roundhouses?
In a pro-bono role I am trying to make the case for a reconstruction of a Round House on a secure site in the English Midlands, a site where traces of more than a dozen have been found. However to make the case I need a ball park estimates of construction and maintenance costs for various sizes. Any thoughts or contacts appreciated by thread-post or PM, thanks.

It might be worthwhile contacting The Ancient Technology Centre in Cranbourne, this started of as a School project many if not all the original building being built with "child labour" so pretty authentic

Thanks Cris and Cris, I will do.
I have been to 2 of the these and was aware of the third and will certainly reach out to them if I can't find a turn key contractor.
I am now wondering how many Round House re-construction there are in the UK and where they are?
This site claims to list many of them, I am sure there must be more, but with this distribution making the case for the location I have in mind gets easier as it seems to be in a void in the middle;

Before spending a lot of money, you should have a look at archaeolink, the failed Iron-age site:

As far as I can see the site itself is still up for sale two years after it closed.

Yes the Archaeolink site is a lesson, many of these initiatives have taken a dive recently, the Wild Flower Centre and Butterfly World have both tanked. With Archaeolink my guess is the flaw was location and pumping too much capital into the visitors centre and it's expensive architect (shades of the Earth Centre). Having had a look around Butser and co I think a secured site with visitor facilities already in place could start to make modest inroads into a roundhouse education element for a few tens of thousands. Might even score a revenue stream to assist in maintenance;
