Well it's still debated how common it was amongst the common Legionnaire but there is still a possibility that auxiliaries used it. I have heard that a few "Segmentata" fittings were found near auxiliary forts (yet I still have not seen these specimens). I truly do not see why they wouldn't use it depending on the time period and such.

The probability is yes, based on the finds of a Batavian's lorica and discharge plaque. The myth that the auxillaries only wore mail stems from Hadrian's Column's depictions.
