History of Private Life - richsc - 07-01-2003

I seem to be seeing a lot of books with this title, but I haven't yet read any of them. Anyone read any and formed an opinion? I was wondering how thorough the research was.

Yes, I've read--"en diagonal," en français--the multi-volume opus, Histoire de la vie privé, which I think is The History of Private Life, in English. Pardon my French; I don't know how to do accents and cedillas in this forum--oh, I just found out how. Anyhow, I found them interesting, but I wouldn`t try to read them all the way through. They`re heavy, both physically and literarily. Let me know what you think when you`ve sampled them. Again, I recommend, as I did in another group here, Lindsey Davis's mysteries for readability and for what sure seems verisimilitude.
