Why is Cleitus always referred to as 'Cleitus the Black' or 'Black Cleitus'? I know from the Iliad that you might have an adjective next to someone's name, but does Cleitus's name derive from some story in his history, or something about his character?

I don't think he was called "Cleitus the Black" until after Alexander's death. Another Cleitus was called "Cleitus the White". It is possible that the epithet was simply to differentiate the two of them.
