Caballo and myself having our first outing as Later Romans! Getting ready for the hunt! http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b242/ ... CF2507.jpg Idle chat http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b242/ ... Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Caballo - 07-29-2007 Thanks- but looks like I need to sort my sagum out and remember that unlike the first century, the brooch is on the right shoulder! Any sagum tips from Late Roman re-enactors? Cheers Caballo Re: Caballo & Peronis\' first incursion into Late Roman t - Robert Vermaat - 07-29-2007 Looking great!! Late Romans, unite! What was the occasion to go 'Late Roman', anyway? Quote:These were taken yesterday at West Stow. Can I call on you for any future events? Quote:Any sagum tips from Late Roman re-enactors? Like what? How to drape it? Ask away! Your belt would be a tad too early, I'd say. And according to some, the combination of trousers and leggings is 'not done', although many do it anyway. Graham? Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Caballo - 07-29-2007 "What was the occasion to go 'Late Roman', anyway? " A Romano-British event at West Stow near Bury St Edmunds. Its a recreated Saxon village. First time I'd been there, and I was very impressed- a lovely spot with some great buildings. Would be an outstanding site for a big Late Roman event......... http://www.stedmundsbury.gov.uk/sebc/pl ... ldings.cfm "Your belt would be a tad too early, I'd say" Absolutely- original impression based around the Lyons well finds of 197 AD. "Can I call on you for any future events? " Be an honour! "Like what? How to drape it?" Exactly!! Cheers Caballo Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Peroni - 07-29-2007 Quote:Can I call on you for any future events? Certainly! I'm planning on gradually getting a full kit together for fourth century. Primvs Pavlvs is making me a belt at the moment to which I will be adding Colchester buckle, Richborough propellor stiffeners and suspension rings with a Dorchester 'tube' all by Nodge Nolan. Like these.. Sword and helmet by deepeeka to start with. Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Gaius_Calvus - 07-30-2007 You both look superb. Edge Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Peroni - 07-30-2007 Many thanks for the comments. Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - sulla felix - 07-30-2007 Are you Late Roman Batavians? Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Memmia - 07-30-2007 Well done you two! You look great. Adrian, is that a Grozer Scythian bow ? Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Peroni - 07-30-2007 Hi Jo, It's a Grozer 'Hun'. Just the basic one. 50lb draw weight Barry wrote... Quote:Are you Late Roman Batavians? I can't see any reason why not! The Batavi were shipped out to Britannia in 360AD! Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Franklin - 07-31-2007 Caballo and Peroni, I'm curious about your footwear. Are these from a specific find? What pattern did you use? Close-up pics would be very welcome! |
