CVRIVS ALEXANDER - 06-25-2007 Ecce. Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Robert Vermaat - 06-26-2007 Looks good Alexander! Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Et tu brute - 06-26-2007 Very nice, that pilum head looks longer than I expected. Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Gaivs Antonivs Satvrninvs - 06-26-2007 Great impression, Alex, as always. Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - M. CVRIVS ALEXANDER - 06-26-2007 Thanks, guys! Here I am about to march across the field after we were done for the day. Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Et tu brute - 06-26-2007 Nice pic once again, do you have the rawhide cover on your scutum there? Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Crispvs - 06-26-2007 "that pilum head looks longer than I expected" Some of the surviving pilum heads are very long. Most reconstructions use the Oberaden pila as their model, but other, very different examples exist, many of which have been published since the end of the Cold War. Very nice impression by the way Alexander. Crispvs Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Et tu brute - 06-26-2007 Thanks for that Crispvs Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - M. CVRIVS ALEXANDER - 06-26-2007 Quote:do you have the rawhide cover on your scutum there? I made my tegimen mostly out of goatskin; the central part covering the umbo - out of cow sking, the ring and the ansata - out of pigskin. The ansata is constructed based on the actual findings - see the pics. Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Et tu brute - 06-26-2007 Wow, thats really nice work, especially the ansata, laudes Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - M. CVRIVS ALEXANDER - 06-26-2007 Thanks, Dave! Quote:"that pilum head looks longer than I expected" I have a shorter one as well. I prefer taking a longer pilum for demonstrations, since when I put it against a shield, it makes a more vivid impression how far can it go through the shield wounding the warrior. Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Peroni - 06-26-2007 That's a VERY nice tegimen Alex! Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Gaius Julius Caesar - 06-26-2007 Great impression! Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Quintus Julius Furius - 07-11-2007 Look at this : http://147732.aceboard.fr/147732-2046-6 ... niques.htm A republican légionnary... |
