Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Robert Vermaat - 06-06-2006 Good posts guys, but shall we do this in a separate thread about lamellar? Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Titus Martius - 06-20-2006 Hi folks! Building up my first legionary kit...Possibly nothing special but a great joy for me. http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h303/ ... alista.jpg Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Gaivs Antonivs Satvrninvs - 06-20-2006 Ave,Titus Martius, Nice start. I assume that's the new Gallic- G you're sporting. I recognize the balteus, too. Your tunica looks very nice. Is it wool? Overall, very nice. Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Commilito - 06-20-2006 very nice starting kit Titus. Where did you get the parts for the baeltus? The RGZM ones are monsters. Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Titus Martius - 06-20-2006 Thanks. Tunic is coarse linen - 125x125 cm Cingulum is unfortunately RGZM monster , but I bought it for very good price and I use only 4 straps. Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Crispvs - 06-20-2006 Titus, Looking good so far. The dimensions of the tunic look particularly good. Send me a PM if you want some simple instructions on how to make the depeeka pugio look more accurate. I can give you some tips on simple sheaths as well. Crispvs Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - FAVENTIANVS - 06-24-2006 That helmet looks great!!!! For all you 3rd C AD fans - my improved 2006 impression - Sassanid - 06-25-2006 http://www.romanarmy.com/cms/components ... 50606E.jpg http://www.romanarmy.com/cms/components ... 50606F.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y102/S ... 50606A.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y102/S ... 50606B.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y102/S ... 50606C.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y102/S ... 50606K.jpg Hope you like them? Andrew Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Marcus Mummius - 06-25-2006 Very nice Andrew. Those greaves look fantastic! Regards, Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Tarbicus - 06-25-2006 Andrew, those greaves turned out great. Nice job. What's going on with the Ribchester? Titus, your impression has a nice feel about it. How are you finding the big tunic? Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Sassanid - 06-25-2006 Hi Jim Quote:What's going on with the Ribchester? 2007... I think? Andrew Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - FAVENTIANVS - 06-26-2006 Bravo Sassanid!!! Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Peroni - 06-26-2006 I thought it was about time I posted my current kit. I didn't have decent enough photo's up until now.. Me in my squamata from summer 2005.. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b242/ ... leeve2.jpg Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Robert Vermaat - 06-26-2006 Oh, great-looking squamata!! Where did you get the inspiration of the semi-circular top? Is that attached to the let or not? Is it attached to leather or maybe linen? Where do you fasten it? Left side or back? I'm particularly jealous of that fine leather piping, which mine completely lacks... Here's mine: Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Peroni - 06-26-2006 Thanks Robert. The shoulder section is attached to the main body of the shirt, just the same way that the torso section is. (scales linked with 1mm brass wire then sewn on to the backing with artificial sinew thread). The backing is made of thick linen canvas. It fastens down the left side with a leather thong. I left a V opening in the back of the collar to allow for putting it on which fastens with a wooden toggle here.. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b242/ ... eneck1.gif side fastening here.. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b242/ ... CF1694.jpg The leather edging is a must to stop chafing! (Particularly around the arm holes!) |
