Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Gaius Julius Caesar - 12-28-2010 Quote:Byron is the one with the long lusciuos red hair And the Taifali cavalry shield. Ahhh, feel of the wind in my hair...... I have the cloak, remember! And broaches..... just deciding on what fittings for the belt, plus need to lengthen it a bit..or go for a totally different one and keep this one for soft dress. Still need the fittings tho' The sword will be a trickier choice! :? Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Vindex - 12-28-2010 Quote: Avoid the pull of dodgy pouches, and you'll get points for style.   Misread that and thought John was being a bit personal about paunches  hock: Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Gaius Julius Caesar - 12-28-2010 Good thing I don't have one then, isn'tit.... Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Vindex - 12-28-2010 Indeed  Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Caballo - 12-28-2010 Byron, Ask Terry Nix if he has any more of the Thetford buckles left, and then add some of Ades propellors stiffeners and strap ends? And Vindex, we've all been there wearing mail........ Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - M. Demetrius - 12-29-2010 Man girdle. 'Nuff said. Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - ambract - 12-29-2010 Hello everybody, My name's Guillaume Levillain, and I'm a french reenactor. Let me put here some photos of me and other brothers in amrs from the group "Herculiani", which represent a IVth century legion. I'll put here our last photos step by step, and I hope you'll like it. Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - jvrjenivs - 12-29-2010 Very nice. What helmet do you use? Can't see it on the picture that good. Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Vindex - 12-29-2010 Like those Guillaume! Any more? Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Vindex - 12-29-2010 Quote:And Vindex, we've all been there wearing mail........ Yes...it does tend to make you walk very upright to avoid certain bulges!! Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Gaius Julius Caesar - 12-29-2010 Nice pictures. The scuta emblem is impressive! Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Caballo - 12-29-2010 Yes, especially like the lenticular scuta! Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Tita Iuventia Martia - 12-29-2010 Hello, here are three of my new photos. One is of a legionary impression from ~AD75, the other two are of a military tribune from the same period. Oh, and although you can't really see it, I'm wearing my new subarmalis in the first photo. It is three layers of semi-felted wool in four layers of coarse linen, all hand-stitched, and wearing the armor is much more comfortable than with the old one. One more thing - these photos were taken at my home, so please ignore the carpet and all. It is below -10°C outside now, so I didn't want to freeze out there  Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Caballo - 12-29-2010 Excellent- and you can see the subarmalis in action in the first picture by the "sit" of the shoulder plates- which is iMHO how they should look. Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - jvrjenivs - 12-29-2010 Great impressions, Radka. They certainly look good. As I'm right you're using a Deepeeka 1st century spatha in your tribune impression. Any reason for using this instead of a normal gladius or a Parazonium? |
