Re: Show here your roman soldier impression - Peroni - 07-30-2008

If you have any of the books with Ronald Embletons paintings (although not the Oh Wicked Wanda ones!) in you notice that he generally puts the soldiers in matching tunic and femenalia! It was so hot that weekend I wore my linen tunic, which happened to be red too!

(My green linen one was butchered to fit my son!)

Hey Ade,

Are you representing any unit in particular? And im taking it the colour debate for tunics also applies to auxilia then?

No particular unit, just the equipment available and used in the last quarter of the first Century.

Colour? Why would an auxiliary not wear red as opposed to any other colours? It's an easy dye to produce after all!

TUNICS - Graham Sumner - 07-31-2008

Scarlet and bronze goes right back to the days of the Ladybird book of Roman Britain never mind Ronald Embleton!

A winning combination I would say. It looks pretty darned good Adrian!

Graham.
