Sources on Legions of Principate. - MarcusNorwood - 06-04-2014

I have several books on the Roman Army of the 1st through 3rd century. Each of the books are good in their own way but none really give a detailed description of how the cohorts moved on the field. Also I can not find a good graphic that shows how the army assembled on the field.

I would like to create a 3d model of how the Roman army moved and include some animation. Can someone point me to some good sources or existing models that I may have missed.

Thanks in advance,
Marcus

If you haven't seen it already, try having a look through some of the material on Gary Brueggeman's site:

Roman Army Info (go to 'site map' at the bottom)

There's a lot of stuff about formations and movement, marching columns and battle plans, with diagrams and simple animations. Plenty to disagree with too, I'm sure!
