The scabbard is made in thin bronze plate with simple lineal decoration, and iron side guttering. I think it's begining of first century. Where we can see the hand guard of the one with the long tang this dagger may have had a complete wood handle the one to the right may have had a shorter two thirds length tang, where a central rivet might have gone through combined with two rivets in the ends of the hand guard holding it all together. |
