Fall of the Roman Republic (81BC-31BC) - Consul Gaius Marius - 04-26-2014

Hey all,

I thought it would be nice to have a discussion about some of the factors you believe influenced the fall of the Republic during 81-31 BC. You can use info to back up your statements from beyond these dates e.g the Marian Military reforms...
Key to this discussion is going to also be the evidence for your statement e.g Written sources (Plutarch, Suetonius, Sallust, Appian, Cassius Dio, Cicero....etc.), Archaeology, Geography.....

This should be interesting seeing as the late Roman republic is not talked about as much as other sections of the Roman world.

Also can we keep to the subject and not drift onto another subject-this can easily be done when discussing history Tongue.

Greetings - and welcome to the Forum. Should be a good topic. Confusedmile:

Could I ask you to have a quick look at the Forum Rules, and then please add your known name to the subscript of your posts? You can do this via the edit function in your profile

Thank you.

Good topic

How about 13 stab-wounds.
What kind of daggers were they? Were any of the blades pattern-welded?
Hold it! Was it 13 wounds or just 12? :dizzy:

It's difficult to keep on-topic. At any time, a RAT member could eat a large Ruben sandwich... in which case the blood from the brain re-directs to the stomach... and the next thing you know, some person is asking about the exact number of stab-wounds. :errr:
