starting fire - Lothia - 02-15-2014 Ave Civitas, In all the books I have read about Rome, none seem to touch on simple topics such as, how did a Roman soldier, or any Roman, start a fire. Did they have flint and steel (seems logical) or was there another method of fire-starting? Does anyone know of a book that covers such mundane topics? Thanks, as always. Tom starting fire - Nathan Ross - 02-15-2014 No need for a book - there's a couple of threads here on that very topic!: Starting Fires How did the Greeks make Fire? The 'tinder fungus' is particularly unusual... starting fire - Vindex - 02-15-2014 Tinder fungus isn't that unusual. It is well known in experimental archaeology circles, anyway! starting fire - Lothia - 02-15-2014 Thanks. Youse guys are great. Tom |
