Excavations at Zeugma (incl. Roman Helmet) - jho - 11-25-2013

Salvete,

The results of the rescue excavations at Zeugma have now been published and the publication is fully available online here.

The most impressive find in terms of military equipment is probably a particularly ugly iron mask helmet (volume III, ch. 3 & 8).

It is a pity that the apparently much more extensive finds at the military site of At Meydani (arrow- and spearheads, armor scales, scabbards, mantraps, mail shirts, helmets, and parts of a catapult) are still not published in detail (see vol. III ch. 10).
