Ancient geographical errors about india - AMELIANVS - 07-15-2013

I believe I've encountered at some Roman(probably)and certainly ancient historian mentioning that India is in neighborhood of Egypt or that river Nile originates in India.SoI'm curious if someone have an idea of what writers was it and if you know about others inaccurate perceptions about India and Egypt of this kind.
As I understand it to a average ancient Greek or Roman world seemed much smaller(with exceptions of course, like almost the exact calculation of the planet Earth diameter, already exist in antiquity),and this was also what Columbus take into consideration when he expected according to ancient authorities that India should be relatively near of Europe by the western way via sea.
