breast plate attachments - richard robinson - 06-06-2013 I have been gifted a musculata sans backplate. I wear it as part of my Hellenistic impression. So far I have pierced holes at the shoulders and the side to have it laced on similar to some late 14th century breastplates. However, I am seeking help on the attachments that would have been used to support lacing points. So far the only source I have is from the Osprey book- and that is a modern painting that suggests florrettes that support rings. I am seeking primary sources as I do not know of any that supports the 'no backplate' hypothesis. Here's a link to my latest favourite foto of myself wearing it https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151621151691170&set=t.553981169&type=3&theater look forward to any sources/ thoughts regards Richard |
