I made one for my g/f as a gift for valentine's day, and my sister loved it, and I figured i'd make one for me, for when I'm at events. All I did was take some rough roman coins, polish them up (yes, removing the patina), wrapping them in copper wire and attaching them to a brass ring and then to a thong. I soldered the copper wire closed, and gave the coin a quick coat of clearcoat, to prevent it from tarnishing against my skin. Turned out not bad, and they're darn easy to make.
