That's what the "Rome's First Frontier" brigade would like you to think. I'm not sure that it "protected" anything, except the convoys trundling up from Ardoch to Bertha and back.

No, it's a cropmark site, Byron. (It's been excavated, too.)

To be fair though, calling it a fort seems stretching it a bit!
Looks more like a marching camp to be honest!
