Leg wraps for Roman soldiers - TFRufio - 06-22-2012 I would like information on winter wear for the Roman soldier, in particular, leg wraps. I have seen the link about showing winter wear, but I can't seem to get a fix about what a soldier in cold weather might have worn around the exposed part of his leg. I understand that soldiers wore socks, and possibly trousers, (I've read that link as well) but I see some re-enactors with what looks like bandage strips tied around their legs, and others, well, it is difficult to tell. What is proper? Does anyone have any evidence? Re: Leg wraps for Roman soldiers - Graham Sumner - 06-23-2012 Hello Jeffrey Everything I could find on the subject is in my book 'Roman Military Dress'. Graham. Re: Leg wraps for Roman soldiers - TFRufio - 06-23-2012 I forgot that I had your book, Graham. It did answer my questions. Thanks. |
