Secutor Helmet - wolle1301 - 06-06-2012
Hello,
I have been on it for a while. I am searching for a secutor helmet with a scales pattern similar to the one of the myrmillo helmet subtype Berlin (H25) It is displayed in the Junkelmann book on gladiatiors, picture nr. 90.
Has anybody an idea if such a "fishy" Secutor helmet even exists ?

The Berlin Murmillo helmet and matching greave are the only Gladiatorial artifacts showing such a decoration.
I also can not recall any helmet loke that in Iconography, but of course most depictions of Gladiator helmets are quite small and simple.
Pottery and other household items in the shape of Gladiator helmets were sometimes more elaborately decorated, but whether this was pure artistic license or modeled after contemporary artifacts we can not say:

I would like to get a Secutor helmet like the Berlin-myrmillo with scales, to get the ultimate fish look so the retiarii shiver in fear
