RAT Conference 2013 - Location Discussion - caiusbeerquitius - 03-06-2012 After the conference is before the conference. Regensburg I suggest Regensburg and am willing to organize. Short trips would / could be: Künzing, Straubing, Alternatively I could organize a three to four day bus trip along the Raetian limes. Re: RAT Conference 2013 - Location Discussion - caiusbeerquitius - 03-06-2012 Adding to the list above: We also could perhaps go to Weltenburg for a beer: http://www.klosterschenke-weltenburg.de/ We could visit the Walhalla: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walhalla Re: RAT Conference 2013 - Location Discussion - Caballo - 03-06-2012 Alternative spot- Oxford ( I can try an organise college accomodation). Nearby museums- Ashmolean http://www.ashmolean.org/ and the mildly bonkers Pitt Rivers museum http://www.prm.ox.ac.uk/ I've got links with the Late Antiquity side and the Archaeology. Nearby sites -North Leigh Roman villa -Dorchester on Thames (excavations this Summer) Cheers Paul Re: RAT Conference 2013 - Location Discussion - jvrjenivs - 03-06-2012 Well, why not Regensburg for 2013 and Oxford for 2014? Re: RAT Conference 2013 - Location Discussion - Caballo - 03-07-2012 Sounds good! Re: RAT Conference 2013 - Location Discussion - Medusa Gladiatrix - 03-07-2012 I also have an idea for quite some time but didn't actually want post it before the current conference but anyhow, since this discussion started: I suggest Bad Dürkheim and region including visit to the museum in Speyer. In Bad Dürkheim are several Roman places sucht as: * Roman vineyard Ungstein: http://www.bad-duerkheim.de/html/Bildung_Kultur_und_Freizeit/Kultur/Roemisches_Weingut_Weilberg.htm * Roman quarry: http://www.bad-duerkheim.com/sehenswuerdigkeiten-freizeit/roemersteinbruch.html * Villa rustica Wachenheim http://www.villa-rustica-wachenheim.de/ * Museum Haus Catoir http://www.kreis-bad-duerkheim.de/wTourismus/sites/museen/heimatmuseum_haus_catoir_bad_duerkheim.php * Historical Museum Speyer http://www.museum.speyer.de/ If you guys vote for Bad Dürkheim I would do the organizing. Although I don't live in that region I had been there twice with my ex-boyfriend for vacation. Re: RAT Conference 2013 - Location Discussion - jkaler48 - 03-07-2012 Paragould Arkansas USA late March!!! Re: RAT Conference 2013 - Location Discussion - Robert Vermaat - 03-07-2012 Utrecht (NL) in November? Re: RAT Conference 2013 - Location Discussion - caiusbeerquitius - 03-12-2012 Alternatively I could organize a four-day bus trip along the Raetian limes. Nights at youth hostels. What do you think? Sounds cool! I'm inn! Re: RAT Conference 2013 - Location Discussion - Medusa Gladiatrix - 03-24-2012 What do you guys think, esp. the admins/mods, if we make out of the several suggestions in this thread a poll so everyone could vote what they favor most? Is it possible to add a poll now? Re: RAT Conference 2013 - Location Discussion - Gaius Julius Caesar - 03-24-2012 Capri.... Re: RAT Conference 2013 - Location Discussion - jvrjenivs - 03-24-2012 Quote:Capri.... Well, it seems that untill now every location we tried to have a conference, which hasn't a big local community of RAT-members didn't seem to work (Augst had to be cancelled and in Ljubljana only 3 RAT-members where present). So, I would better suggest we choose a location where we can be more sure about numbers to attend. (E.G. Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium or UK) Re: RAT Conference 2013 - Location Discussion - Gaius Julius Caesar - 03-24-2012 I was kidding....but it would be a handy place to dispose of the rowdy attendees....heh heh I would love to visit any of the places mentioned already. So much to see, so little time. i think the poll is a good idea. Some great options mentioned. mile: Re: RAT Conference 2013 - Location Discussion - Joze Noriker - 03-24-2012 Oh that's very sad, only 3 members weree in Ljubljana... :-( I have personal reasons, why i can't go on every termin, i am sorry, too. Wish to go and to do more, but i can't do it. Joze |
