Show here your ancient civilian impression - IGNATIUS LARRASUS PROFUTURUS - 03-18-2013

Last month we enjoyed a photo session in Late Roman baths of Sant Boi (Barcelona) through the courtesy of the Museum of History of Sant Boi. We wanted to evoke the mosaics of Piazza Armerina despite our limited resources. You can see in:

WOW! Great photoshoot guys.

This is probably a little outside your intended scope - here I present an Arsacid knight in his courtly clothes, from the 3rd Century (hey, the title says "ancient civilian," not "ancient Roman civilian" Wink )

I am missing my weaponry though but wanted to at least get the soft kit presentable. I'll definitely be building on my 3rd Century impression :-) Hope you like it.

Profuturus, tribune of the Ascarii Seniores, spent some time with his wife, daughter and sister in his villa in Blandae (Tarraconensis - Hispania) after the harsh summer campaign in Belgica Secunda (Marle). He is visited by Bergidianus, a colleague of his unit, who gives a hispanic dagger in name of all his commilitiones.

Great pictures IƱaki! Where's the location?

The parasol's interesting too - is that based on an original, or is it 'hypothetical'?

Show here your ancient civilian impression - IGNATIUS LARRASUS PROFUTURUS - 11-02-2013

Thank you, the place is Blanes in the province of Girona in Catalonia, Spain. The Roman name was Blandae.
The parasol is hipotetical because is a chinese one. I think not preserved any roman parasol. In iconography we see that are very similar to the Chinese. I hope to build a roman parasol based on Noheda mosaics. They are very different from anything seen so far and are difficult to interpret.

Thanks everybody above, how come I have not noticed these before? Kids, late roman impressions in wonderful settings, awesome!

I guess I have never put this up. We have a portable caupona; this picture is from the Virginia Junior Classical League convention last year.
