Roman Mail Shirt Breastplate - Martin Moser - 11-27-2011 A unique variant of Roman mail shirts has been found in the early 80s in Bertoldsheim, Germany. Attached to it was a 2 piece breast plate otherwise only known from Roman scale armor. The mail shirt itself (iron rings, as usual) is further segmented by vertical and horizontal rows of bronze rings. We are now working on a reconstruction of this mail shirt, the breast plate I (at long last) finished a few days ago: http://sutor.jimdo.com/escapees/roman/breast-plate-for-mail-shirt/ Re: Roman Mail Shirt Breastplate - Gunthamund Hasding - 11-28-2011 nice Martin you are a gifted craftsman Re: Roman Mail Shirt Breastplate - PhilusEstilius - 11-28-2011 Martin. I have made several of the squamata types but this is the first I have seen from mail, I have to also say that you have made a very good job indeed. Re: Roman Mail Shirt Breastplate - martijn.wijnhoven - 11-28-2011 Wonderful work. Will you be making the mail shirt that goes with it as well? Cheers, Martijn |
