New Armour! - Gaius Julius Caesar - 09-02-2011 It's been some time since I posted on here, and have yet to use either of these. The squamata I recieved today, after lumbering a good and patient friend with a box or two for a few weeks. The other I recieved last year! Re: New Armour! - Dan Howard - 09-03-2011 Beautiful Re: New Armour! - Gaius Julius Caesar - 09-03-2011 Cheers! I'm pretty chuffed! Guess I should clarify the sources of these 2. The squamata is from Adrian Wink, the seg is from Erik Konig, based on the latest finds from Kalkriese at the time! Re: New Armour! - comicus - 09-03-2011 The segementata looks great, But as for the squamata-WOW awesome!!! thats a lovely piece of armor Re: New Armour! - Gaius Colletti - 09-03-2011 I've always been a fan of the Kalkriese, I don't know why, maybe just because (to me anyways) it seems more bulkier and macho. So can we expect to see some new posts in the "Show us your Roman Impression" thread? Re: New Armour! - Gaius Julius Caesar - 09-03-2011 Hopefully! Re: New Armour! - Robert Vermaat - 09-03-2011 Looking very good Byron! Although when I read the title I kinda hoped you added a later squamata to your armory.. Re: New Armour! - Gaius Julius Caesar - 09-03-2011 Well, the doubler is detachable.... mile: I think the ringmail will have to do for now though... Re: New Armour! - Robert Vermaat - 09-05-2011 Quote:Well, the doubler is detachable.... mile:Oh that's good. I think Paul Karremans had the same new squamata, it looked very well on him last Saturday (no doublers). I think you could use that very well in a 4th c. context. Re: New Armour! - Gaius Julius Caesar - 09-05-2011 Except the hooks on the front...I have to check if they are removable or not! Still, its a nice piece, and now I need a decent subarmalis.. Re: New Armour! - Titus Marius Secundus - 09-05-2011 Very good! :-P all this looks great. I like the Kalriese too, but more so the Corbridge A because of the sturdier hinges? What do people prefer most, shoulder plates that are two long and two short, or 4 gradually decreasing lengths? All in all, can't wait to see a complete impression :-D Sam Re: New Armour! - Crispvs - 09-07-2011 Very nice new armour Byron. I look forward to seeing it in the flesh. And now, to celebrate your lovely new armour, here is a photo, courtesy of Caballo, of me in my own nice new armour, taken a couple of weeks ago.  Crispvs Re: New Armour! - Titus Marius Secundus - 09-07-2011 AND IS THAT YOUR SWORD?! hock: :-o  Re: New Armour! - Crispvs - 09-07-2011 Ah - yes, that would appear to be the case. Crispvs Re: New Armour! - Gaius Julius Caesar - 09-08-2011 Ha Ha nice one Crispus!! Looks great with your sword, glad to see you have finished it! |
