As far as I know no one was found, so based on monuments, I would say.
Anyway another great piece from a very talented craftsman Big Grin

Brandon,
my bet would be that besides Munazio Planco, I would look to either Mark Morrow or Matt Lukes here in North America.

infortunatly for the parazonium we have only relief and sculpture and not repert so when a person like me whant to reproduce have to use a few the immagination.normally i did parazonium in the past whit the handle all ion ivory and all in one piece whit eaglie head onlyu that this time this my client whanted the parazonium like that..is not so bad in the end.

Pier Paolo.

I don't know if you have seen the book "Weapons of the Romans" by Michel Feugere for on pages 124 and 125 he shows eagle head grips of parazonium in the museum of Naples
he even mentions that this museum has a complete example with iron blade.

Brian I have this book and in fact there is in thepage 124 the photo of one grip in bronze of parazonium from naples museum....but in the next page 125 there is an other parazonium in bronze similar that came from a statue....si in my opinion this reperts are all from statue.

But is only my opinion.

Pierpaolo.

That is correct as you say but it was only from his statement of a complete example of one with an iron blade, if of course this can be confirmed for he does not show any pictures of this blade in his book ?
