Glandes Plumbeum - MDF - 02-26-2011
Hi Guys,
here's my latest work, a replica of the Roman glandes plumbeum, their weight is about 60g.
Inscription are ROMA and C. IMP. soon I post a new model (now at work) with insulting phrase :twisted: :twisted:

Hi David,
I used a special technical product: very similar to silicone, but resistant to low-melting alloys, I made a wax model and then I made a "bivalve" mold, sorry but I do not know the word "bivalve" in English!

Bivalve works just fine. Or you could just say a "two piece mold". I'm guessing it's one of the several RTV silicone products?

yes you've guessed it, on the packaging of this product is written RTV how you say...is the first time I use this product, resistant up to 300 ° C but do not know the duration.

RTV=Room Temperature Vulcanizing.
Cures from liquid to "rubber" without heating in an oven.

Hi David,
thanks, I did not know this acronym and I thought that RTV was the name of the product :roll: However, there are many products, the difficulty is to build good molds without bubbles.
