Glandes Plumbeum - MDF - 02-26-2011 Hi Guys, here's my latest work, a replica of the Roman glandes plumbeum, their weight is about 60g. Inscription are ROMA and C. IMP. soon I post a new model (now at work) with insulting phrase   I hope you like them  Re: Glandes Plumbeum - Magnus - 02-27-2011 Very nice! Almost too nice to fire at people! Re: Glandes Plumbeum - M. Demetrius - 03-01-2011 How did you make the mold? Re: Glandes Plumbeum - MDF - 03-01-2011 Hi David, I used a special technical product: very similar to silicone, but resistant to low-melting alloys, I made a wax model and then I made a "bivalve" mold, sorry but I do not know the word "bivalve" in English! Re: Glandes Plumbeum - M. Demetrius - 03-02-2011 Bivalve works just fine. Or you could just say a "two piece mold". I'm guessing it's one of the several RTV silicone products? Re: Glandes Plumbeum - MDF - 03-02-2011 Hi David, yes you've guessed it, on the packaging of this product is written RTV how you say...is the first time I use this product, resistant up to 300 ° C but do not know the duration. Re: Glandes Plumbeum - M. Demetrius - 03-04-2011 RTV=Room Temperature Vulcanizing. Cures from liquid to "rubber" without heating in an oven. Re: Glandes Plumbeum - MDF - 03-07-2011 Hi David, thanks, I did not know this acronym and I thought that RTV was the name of the product  However, there are many products, the difficulty is to build good molds without bubbles. These are my final results.
