My new Italic A Helmet - caiusbeerquitius - 11-13-2010 Hi Folks! Here´s me wearing my new Italic A, which I got for my pre 79 CE impression :-) ) Those cheek-pieces are really big, but I think it looks quite cool! There were two of these found, the pic of the original is the other one, which does not have a round cut-out for the ear, and has the volute decoration positioned lower towards the brim. Re: My new Italic A Helmet - Mark Headlee - 12-01-2010 Christian, Let me ask two questions: 1. Would it be possible to have a copy made of the second helmet ? and... 2. Would it be possible to have the cheek pieces made a tad shorter ? Let me know when you have a moment. Its a interesting helmet, def. not the norm and wonderful based on an original Re: My new Italic A Helmet - Crispvs - 12-01-2010 It just occurred to me to say that the neck guard on the helmet seems quite like that of a cavalry helmet, particularly type 'A'. Hmmm, I have been looking at pictures of that helmet for twenty five years now and that thought never occurred to me until now. Crispvs Re: My new Italic A Helmet - caiusbeerquitius - 12-01-2010 Mark: 1. Yes, but it´ll be difficult to wear # ears, that´s why I opted for that one 2. yes, just lmk how long you want them in cm Crispus: Yes. Absolutely. If the finding spot in Pompeji would be clear, we might either call it a gladiator helmet (for equites) or a military one. |
