the sword in the OSPREY BOOK in the Augst Museum - Anonymous - 11-22-2002
Alright. The address of the Roemermuseum at Augst is in a recent post from me if anyone fancies dusting off their German and writing to them.
Re: the sword in the OSPREY BOOK in the Augst Museum - Anonymous - 11-25-2002

The picture in the book makes it look about 35-40 cm long and the "hilt" is very sword like but then the drawing of the wooden practice sica does not resemble the dimensions I have seen elsewhere. No doubt a picture will turn up !!

Getting back to my Hoplo with two manica ( please excuse my lack of Latin grammar ) ... the picture I am refering to does not have him fighting a Thracian but a Myrmillo. The mosaic is a floor and has them in an arched background .. i cant seem to paste it here but if anyone wants to see it e-mail me directly on [email protected] and i will copy it to you.

As our status as " gladiator " fans makes us interlopers on a sqauddie sight can we not go on the off subject bit ?
Conalm

TO put the image is use that shoudl do the trick.

And as much as I hate to say it we should really take this to the off subject forum now as we have pretty much lost any details of the original psprey thread and I don't really want to keep us stealing the forum with this unrelated thread.

Perhaps you could start a new thread off topic with your image?

Plans are comng together though for a new forum called Roman Combat Sports, so we will have a place to go shout before Christmas ... think of it as an early Christmas pressie!
Sorry that was my fault entirely, I didn't turn off the ezcodes. You need to do the codes as follows.
Gladiator forum - Gashford - 12-05-2002

Hello all

Well because of this thread and a few other gladiator 'moments' I have stood up the Roman Combat Sports forum.

I am forming links with Jenny to try and be a compliment to RAT as much as possible.

There are afew things to sort out yet such as the colours, some links can't be seen, but it is up and working. You can find it here: pub75.ezboard.com/bromancombatsports

Cheers all
Re: Gladiator forum - Praefectusclassis - 12-05-2002

Good luck Graham, hope it becomes a successful forum. And it's great you want to be a compliment to RAT, though a complement alone would've been fine.
Greets
